Melting Ice
Natural disasters are expected to become more common in the near future, including the risk of tsunamis striking the shores of Britain.
As a result of the increased rise of temperature in the Arctic - due to the rising output of carbon emissions being generated - earthquakes, tsunamis, avalanches and volcanic eruptions will be set off more regularly and could even effect Britain.
It was initially thought that climate change would affect the atmosphere and seas, however, it is now being suggested that the Earth's geology will alter. New evidence suggests that a change in the pressures on the Earth's crust will result in increased volcanic eruptions across the globe. Further to this, it has also been suggested that underwater landslides, as a consequence of melting glaciers, could create tsunamis that would strike the shores the Britain.
The Alps also faces a serious threat as the increased temperature would melt the ice on the mountain's peaks causing avalanches, floods and mud-slides. This will pose serious danger to the local population, but also to its dependence upon tourism.
